HOBY: Attention SophomoresAny sophomore who may be interested in exploring their leadership potential should consider applying to attend the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership State Seminar. At HOBY, high school sophomores learn to inspire through leadership development programs. State Leadership Seminars are a three-day residential program, typically held on a college or university campus. Virtual Leadership Seminars are two to three-day live online programs that allow students to participate from the safety of their own home without the need to travel. This year's HOBY seminar will be held at John Carroll University on June 5th through June 7th, 2026. One sophomore will be chosen to represent Perry High School at the HOBY seminar next summer. Applications are available in the school counseling office. The deadline for returning applications is Friday, November 21. Interviews will be conducted on Monday, November 24. |
Buckeye Boys/Girls StateAre you interested in learning more about how our government works while making new friends from all over Ohio? Please consider attending Buckeye Boys/Girls State. These programs provide a practical exercise in the operation of a democratic government as the students govern a fictitious 51st state. They will run for election and will be appointed to serve in offices within the Legislative Branch and in Cabinet/Administrative Departments at the State, County, and Local Government levels. All Buckeye Boys State Delegates will be required to attend a local orientation meeting in the spring of 2026. Applications and other information will be available through the school counseling office at Perry High School. Applicants will be interviewed, and the final selection will be made by the American Legion. |
