E-Bike Safety: Ride Smart. Ride Safe.

Considering several recent accidents on campus, as well as serious incidents across Northeast Ohio, including the tragic loss of students in the Greater Cleveland area, we are asking families to take a moment to review important e-bike, e-scooter, and other transportation device safety expectations. 

The increased use of e-bikes and e-scooters makes it especially important that students and families understand the laws and safety requirements governing their use. Ohio recognizes three e-bike classes: Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3, each with specific rules and restrictions. 

Please take a few minutes to review this information with your student. A conversation today could help prevent a tragedy tomorrow.

Important Message from the Clinic

There have been reported cases of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) within the district. HFMD symptoms may include fever, sore throat, painful mouth sores that blister, and a rash commonly found on the hands and feet. HFMD is very contagious and can spread through contact with droplet particles after a person sneezes, coughs, or talks; fluid from blisters, stool, or objects and surfaces with virus particles.

To help prevent catching or spreading HFMD, be sure to frequently wash your hands, avoid touching your face, clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces, and avoid close contact with others infected. Contact your student’s health care provider if you suspect your student has HFMD. For more information https://www.cdc.gov/hand-foot-mouth/about/index.html.

Torchlight

The Torchlight Program provides college/ high school students (mentors) an opportunity to mentor elementary/middle school children (mentees) on the school (or site) premises. Both mentors and mentees grow academically and socially in a group mentoring situation. A Torchlight coordinator supervises and facilitates mentor/mentee interactions during the weekly two-hour sessions. Torchlight currently has programs in schools throughout Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties.

Students interested in joining Torchlight can go online and fill out an application.  

Homecoming Court Elections

The first round of homecoming court elections will begin on Tuesday, September 8th at 7:30 am and will end on Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 pm. Winners will be announced Wednesday at the end of the school day. 

The selected homecoming court representatives will be expected to attend a meeting at ICE on Thursday, September, 10th, in Mr. Goodman’s room A-264.

Homecoming Tickets

Welcome to The Great Gatsby!!

Perry High School Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 19th, from 7:30 to 10:30 pm in the PHS cafeteria.

Tickets are $25 per person. Tickets will be on sale beginning September 15th in the PHS office with Mrs. Sorine.  Please pay by check (made out to Perry High School) or exact cash. 

All school fees must be paid before purchasing tickets. 

Absence Request Feature

Absence Request Feature in Infinite Campus

Please note that there has been a change in the absence request feature on Infinite Campus. The "Arrive Late" option is no longer available. If your child will be tardy, please select the "full day" absence option and, in the comment section, note that they will be late and provide an approximate arrival time. Students will need to check in at the office upon arrival. As always, thanks for your cooperation!

Fall Play Auditions

Auditions for the fall play, "Tuck Everlasting", will be held on Thursday, September 10th at 3:30 pm in the Choir Room. Students must leave campus or report to the Media Center between dismissal and 3:15 pm.

Email Ms. Jones as soon as possible if you plan on staying in the Media Center; otherwise, you will be required to leave until auditions begin. 

Anyone interested in working backstage should complete the Interest Form before Thursday, 9/10.  Students should join the Google Classroom for more detailed information, as all communication will be posted there.  Please email Ms. Jones with any questions or for the Classroom code.

Students Against Destructive Decisions

Students in grades 9-12  are invited to join the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Meetings every Wednesday during ICE in Mrs. Soeder's classroom.  SADD is a chance for students to come together socially and serve the community through events that promote health and wellness. 

SADD will be hosting the annual Veterans Breakfast at the Perry Senior Center on Wednesday, September 9th.  Please share with any local veterans.  We encourage interested veterans to RSVP. We would love to have veterans join us on 9/9 at the Perry Senior Center from 8:30-9:30 AM. 

PHS Girls Wrestling

Girls-only open mat practices every Sunday from 6-7:30 pm. Open to all girls who want to come try out wrestling, as well as current wrestling athletes. This is a great time to try out the sport with no commitment.  Practice is held in the wrestling room upstairs in the PAC.

Each fall, the Perry community comes together to celebrate one of its most anticipated events: the Perry Fall Festival. Held annually at Lee Lydic Park, the festival brings together residents, local organizations, businesses, and visitors for a day filled with family-friendly fun, entertainment, food, and community spirit.

The festival features a wide variety of attractions, including games and activities for children, food vendors, live entertainment, hayrides, community contests, and a spectacular fireworks display to close out the evening. Over the years, the event has continued to grow, attracting record numbers of sponsors, vendors, and attendees from throughout the region.

More than just a celebration, the Perry Fall Festival serves as an important fundraiser for the Perry Area Joint Recreation District and the Perry Senior Center. Proceeds from sponsorships, raffles, activities, and other festival events help support youth sports programs, recreational opportunities, and services that benefit the entire Perry community.

The Perry Fall Festival continues to showcase the pride, volunteerism, and hometown spirit that make Perry a special place to live, work, and raise a family. It remains a cherished tradition that brings generations together to celebrate community and create lasting memories.

School Counseling Office Updates

Celebrating Academic Excellence!

We are proud to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of our students in grades 10–12 at the Academic Awards assembly on September 10, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in the Goodwin Theatre. 

This special ceremony will honor students who demonstrated exceptional dedication and academic success by earning a 3.3 GPA or higher during the 2025–2026 academic year. We look forward to recognizing their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence!

Academic Study Tables

Academic study tables will be held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6:45 to 7:30 am in room 151. This is a great opportunity for all students to stay current on homework and improve their grades. Please use the new main office doors by the bus loop for morning access. 

PSAT/NMSQT

Attention All Sophomores and Juniors:

Registration will begin for all students interested in taking the PSAT on October 7, 2026. 

Students can register for the exam starting Tuesday, August 25th-Friday, September 11th. The test will be proctored the morning of October 7th at 7:45 am. 

The cost for juniors is $18.00 and can be paid by check or cash due at the time of registration. The test is free for sophomores. 

Students can register with Ms. Scarano in the main office. See your school counselor if you have any questions. 

Class of 2027 News

Please check the Class of 2027 page frequently for senior class information.

The Senior Class Fee ($20) will be assigned on October 1st. This fee covers the senior class picnic & end-of-year senior celebrations!

Commencement Speech 2027

At the commencement for the class of 2027, we will have three speeches. The class president will speak along with two additional speakers. This will be determined using the following process:

• One speech will be selected from the students receiving the Student of Excellence honor.
• One speech will be selected from any student graduating with the class in that year.
• If you are interested in speaking at Commencement on May 23rd, please complete the Commencement Speech 2027 Google Form and follow the steps outlined in the form by April 30, 2027.

December 1st: Baby pictures and Senior Photos are due.

●    Baby pictures for the Senior Video are due to Mr. Kellogg by December 1st. Email your digital baby photos to KelloggA@perry-lake.org.

●    Yearbook photos are due to Mrs. Skarupa by December 1st. Mrs. Skarupa prefers photos to be digital head/shoulder shots. Email your digital photo to Mrs. Skarupa. Photos should be a single shot of the graduating student only!
